Take A Cross-Country Journey with Amtrak's Flash Sale

Amtrak wants to assist explorers on cross-country journeys by offering a $50 discount on the USA Rail Pass, allowing travelers to take ten different rides over 30 days. Tickets are on sale until January 25 and the pass costs $449.

🎫 What are the details of the pass?

The pass allows activation within 120 days of purchase, with no blackout dates. Travelers using the pass can reserve coach seats but are ineligible for upgrades to business class or private rooms. Applicable on all trains except the Acela train, Auto Train, Canadian stations on the Maple Leaf train, or Thruway Bus Series 7000-7999, the pass offers flexibility for various routes.

Amtrak also offers two other multi-ride options: one for regular commuters and a $159 California Rail Pass, allowing flexibility to hop on and off California trains within a seven-day period over 21 days. The pass launch aligns with the Winter Park Express's return for the ski season, connecting Denver and Colorado’s Winter Park Resort.

Experts Urge Americans To Transfer Their Balances In 2024

Did you know some credit cards can actually help you get out of debt faster?

Yes, it sounds crazy. But it’s true.

The secret: Find a card with a “0% intro APR" period for balance transfers. Then, transfer your debt balance and pay it down as much as possible during the intro period. No interest means you could pay off the debt faster.

Check out the full list of cards you can use to do this here.

Las Vegas Bans Stopping on Pedestrian Bridges

Oh, so now it’s illegal to stop and smell the roses? Las Vegas, known for its bright and distracting lights, has imposed a new law enforcing a “pedestrian flow zone” that prohibits people from stopping (taking photos or videos), lingering, or participating in any activity that results in another person coming to a stop on pedestrian bridges, as well as escalators and stairways.

Clark County officials have said the purpose of the law is to provide more public safety and prevent crime during major events, but representatives from the ACLU of Nevada and other organizations claim it is a “dangerous intrusion on civil liberties.”

While the pedestrian bridges make up only 6% of the sidewalk on the Strip, they account for 11% of calls for disorderly offenses. Between 2018 and 2022, disorderly offenses on the Strip increased by 23%. County officials insist this new ordinance was not targeted at street performers on the pedestrian bridges.

🚫 What are the consequences of breaking the law?

Signage will be put up in Pedestrian Flow Zones to notify the public of the law, and if broken, the ordinance could result in a fine of $1,000 or a potential six-month jail term.

The next time you find yourself in Las Vegas, especially if you’re going for the Super Bowl, just remember to keep it moving because the scent of freedom to move about how you’d like is not as fragrant as it used to be on the Strip!
