As a Brit, it’s tough lowering the standard of English for an American audience. With every letter dropped, word replaced, and dry anecdote made fluffy, a small piece of me dies.
I resent you all for this.
A biscuit is not a savory scone thing. A cookie is a type of biscuit.
FavOrite is favOUrite.
And there may not be an “i” in team, but there sure as hell are two of ‘em in aluminium.
Let’s get to the points.
In this week’s cheatsheet:

Your favorite red coat.
P.S. I’m just kidding. I quite like your weird biscuits.

Celebrate This Rent-Centric Credit Card's Birthday on Rent Day
|
Most people's biggest expense is their rent. And, every month, it hurts just as much to see so much leave the account all at once. Luckily, thanks to this brilliant card, you can turn your rent money into free travel (so it can sting a little less).
With this card, Rent Day is no longer a day to dread and this Thursday, you might even look forward to it. To celebrate its birthday, the company is teaming up with the likes of Virgin
Atlantic, Emirates, and Lyft to throw a little extra in the pot. Here are the details:
Cardholders can log into their account on June 1st and solve a simple word puzzle. When successfully completed, you'll be able to pick an epic present.
Rent Day prizes include:
25 Bilt Points
50 Bilt Points
10,000 Bilt Points
100,000 Bilt Points
5,000 Bilt Points for The Collection
25,000 Bilt Points for The Collection
$100 Lyft Ride Credit
1 Month of Free Rent
Virgin Flight to London - Fly Upper Class roundtrip with a Companion
Emirates Flight to Dubai - Fly Business Class roundtrip with a Companion
On top of the chance to win some properly unbelievable prizes, you'll also be privy to the usual Rent Day perks like 6x points per dollar on dining and 4x points per dollar on travel.
It's a staggeringly good card to have at your disposal if you're still paying rent. It's likely your biggest expense, why wouldn't you want to make it work for you?
Apply for the card here and make sure to check out the Rent Day puzzles!

The Kimpton Secret Password Gets You Free Perks
|
I have a different kind of travel hack for you this week. One that involves secret codes, espionage, and deception…
Alright, mild exaggeration, but you do need a not-so-secret password, and you can get some pretty cool free stuff.
Kimpton Hotels has launched its most recent seasonal password, offering guests the chance to earn some freebies while dropping the phrase at check-in. It’s by no means a new promotion, the hotel brand typically releases a seasonal password to throw some perks at guests, and some of them can be pretty valuable.
For this summer season, running between May 26th and September 3rd, guests must drop the phrase “no shade” at check-in to grab their perk. Customers must then spin a wheel to earn the prize.
Other perks reported include:
Some are more valuable than others, so it might be worth asking if you can pick. There’s no suggestion this will work, however. Family travelers have reported kids being allowed to have a spin each to try and win movie nights and snacks.
Either way, with some decent money-saving and experiential perks available, it’s more than worth dropping the password if you have a Kimpton stay this summer.

How to Make Friends (and Use Them to Score Free Travel)
|
If, like me, you find yourself as the resident credit card expert in your friend and family group, you’ll find yourself dishing advice on a regular basis. And while the emotional returns on hearing your loved ones traveling free are great…DON’T FORGET TO USE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM FOR YOUR OWN GAIN.
It doesn’t have to be as ominous as that. But, as with almost any travel hacking strategy, it makes zero sense to leave points on the table. One of the best ways to grab a quick horde is referral bonuses. While you might have earned your card’s intro bonus months ago, you can make a quick steal when a pal opens their card.
It’s one of the easiest ways to earn points. If a friend successfully opens a credit card using a link you send them, ten or twenty thousand points drop into your account. These typically have a cap of around ten referrals, but in theory, that’s 100 thousand points or more.
You can be super proactive about this, or just take it as it comes. Do the rounds of your friends and family once in a while to see if anyone is considering a new card, or tell them to ask you beforehand. I’ve seen some people post on their Instagram and Facebook, although I’ve never done that myself.
I have considered dropping my own referral links in Smart Points…but I figured that was probably unethical. Or did I…?
