It took working at DFC to understand and take advantage of credit card welcome bonuses. After writing about this card tirelessly, I finally signed up for it myself. After receiving the 75k bonus, I decided to use the miles I’d acquired to book a group of plane tickets. The only problem was, I didn’t know how.
Thankfully, my credit card issuer has a designated travel portal that streamlines the process, allowing me to use it much like Google Flights to find and purchase airfare using points. There was one flight I couldn’t find on the portal’s search and had to book on the airline’s website. Initially bummed, I soon found out I could use the credit card travel portal’s purchase eraser feature to cover the cost of that flight using my miles.
My bank account is stoked, and our resident Smart Points slinger, Steven, is probably proud—or embarrassed.
