Is anyone else just completely fed up with the first two months of this year?

There's got to be something wonky going on with the planets. My official new year starts tomorrow, and I'm feeling the itch for some escapism. Whether or not my friend group confirms their attendance for my short-term disappearance, I will be heading to at least one of these top holiday destinations in March.

In today’s edition:

  • The best airline stopover programs to check out

  • Get paid $40K to tour the US with a friend

  • Disney World’s increased fees and more

Cheers,

Kaylen

Top Airline Stopover Programs to Book This Year

Who said layovers have to be a drag? They might just become the highlight of your journey if you play your cards right. Instead of dreading that long layover, you could just turn it into a bonus adventure. Many international airlines offer stopover programs, allowing passengers to tack on a free extra destination to their itinerary.

Think of a stopover as an extended layover with perks, giving you a chance to escape the airport and explore a new city. Depending on the carrier, stopovers can last anywhere from 24 hours to 10 days, giving you plenty of time to sightsee, shop, or leisurely soak up the culture.

The best stopover programs of 2024:

🇵🇹 TAP Air Portugal: Enjoy a free stopover in either Porto or Lisbon for up to 10 days.

🇹🇷 Turkish Airlines: Get a free hotel stay in Istanbul for up to two nights (economy class) or three nights (business class) with any US itinerary over 20 hours. Additional nights can be booked at discounted rates.

🇪🇸 Iberia: Stay in Madrid for up to seven days at no extra cost. Enjoy discounts on attractions, transportation, and accommodations through their Stopover Hola Madrid program.

🇶🇦 Qatar Airways: Stay up to four days in Doha with discounted rates on luxury hotels starting at $14 per person per night. Travelers can also explore the city with discounted tour packages.

🇦🇪 Etihad: Get a free one- or two-night stay in Abu Dhabi, along with 24-hour check-in and free Wi-Fi.

🇵🇦 Copa Airlines: Explore Panama City for up to one week with no extra airfare costs.

Disney World’s New Fees and Free Waterpark Entry

The cost of pretty much everything is up, with Disney World being no exception. The Florida vacation resort opened bookings this week for most of 2025, and its calendar revealed a spike in the starting price of tickets.

🎟️ What’s the new cost?

The cheapest one-day, one-park ticket now costs $119 for guests over the age of 9, up from this year's starting price of $109 for select dates at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The new cost aligns with the current ticket prices at Universal Orlando Resort. Disney World's base prices have remained the same since December 2022 when the resort introduced park-specific pricing, but not all tickets will be impacted. The most expensive one-day, one-park tickets remain $189, at least through October 2025. Holiday season prices are not yet available.

🎢 What’s up with the waterpark?

On the plus side, starting next year, guests staying at Walt Disney World's owned and operated resort hotels will receive a new benefit: free entry to a Disney water park on the check-in date. This perk applies to both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, with usual one-day ticket prices ranging from $64 for adults to $58 for children.

The offer is exclusive to Disney's resorts, spanning from the budget-friendly All-Star resorts to the luxurious Grand Floridian, and does not extend to third-party properties like Marriott’s Swan and Dolphin or Shades of Green.
